Please stick to the public API when extending in-place editing functionality. If you do, you will be at ease after updating the SDK later on because your extensions most certainly simply continue to work, or we'll provide instructions on how to make them work again.
The proxy controllers and basic in-place editing functionality are part of the Scrivito SDK, whereas advanced in-place editing capabilities of the Rails application originate from widgets.
